Sign up to attend training

February 29th at Pearce HS March 10th at Berkner HS March 26th at Richardson HS

Student Qualifications:

  • Students must live in the City of Richardson or attend Richardson ISD.
  • Students must provide own transportation to internship.
  • Students must be a Junior for school year (2019/2020)
  • Students must be at least 16 years old and able to work in the US by June 1, 2020.
  • Students must have at least a 2.5 (80) cumulative GPA (on a 100 point scale) and a solid attendance record. (No exceptions)
  • Students must complete an on-line application at www.rmsip.org by February 29, 2020.
  • Students must obtain a letter of recommendation from their campus leadership.
  • Students must complete online workforce readiness courses.
  • Students must participate in half day (unpaid) of the workforce readiness training on either February 29th or March 26th.
  • Students must be able to participate in the RMSIP Job Fair on April 20th.
  • Selected Interns must be available to work the entire 8 week internship.
  • Selected Interns must participate in 2 full days of Leadership training on May 30th and May 31st.
  • Selected Interns must participate in one 3 hour community service day held during summer internship period on June 2020.
  • Selected Interns must complete the RMSIP summer curriculum component of the internship.
  • Students must attend the conclusion celebration event in late August 21, 2020.

How does it work?

Step 1 (Sign up):

  • Students review program requirements to determine if they are eligible to participate in the program.
  • Complete the online application and sign up for the 1 full day Workforce Essentials Training.

Step 2 (Get Started):

  • Students attend an information session at their local campus for program orientation and expectations (contact your Campus RMSIP Facilitator.)
  • Students Complete the online workforce readiness courses.
  • Students attend at least one full day Workforce Essentials Training.
  • Students obtain necessary documents needed for program eligibility.

Step 3 (Interview):

  • Students attend mock interviews on their campus.
  • Employers will review on-line applications and request interviews to be held at the RMSIP Job Fair.
  • RMSIP conducts an internship Job Fair where all qualified candidates will get a chance to be interviewed by all the employers present.

Step 4 (The Internship):

  • Employers will provide the student with an RMSIP Internship offer letter.
  • Students will have 3-4 days to accept the RMSIP internship job offer.
  • Students selected will start their paid 8-week internship June 1, 2019 - August 7, 2020.

Step 5 (Requirements):

  • Students must be available to work the entire 8 weeks.
  • Students must attend full day of Leadership Development on May 30-31, 2020.
  • Students must attend one RMSIP Community Service Day – June 2020.
  • Students must complete their summer internship learning curriculum.
  • Students must attend the RMSIP Celebratory Luncheon - August 21, 2020.
